Institution description | The overarching objective of the Institute of Envi-ronmental Physics is to understand the mecha-nisms controlling the Earth System and its response to change. This is achieved by using physical methods and research focuses on the sub systems atmosphere, ocean, cryosphere, and their interfac-es. This requires the development and use of re-mote sensing techniques from the ground, from ships, aircraft and satellite platforms and in-situ measurements for process studies. The data are coupled with models to interpret the observations and improve the prediction of change. |
