Before being offered the flight access, applicants must satisfy some Eligibility Criteria and pass the Selection Procedure:
 
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
 
  Applicants (leader + majority of the group of users) must:
- come from a member or associate country of the European Union,
- come from and work in a different European country than the one operating the aircraft,
- have no personal/direct links with the selected aircraft operator,
- have the resources to ensure that generated data will be analysed and disseminated,
- be prepared to write a description of the work that they wish to carry out and to write the names, nationalities and home institutions of the researchers expected to take part.
The project must be in the field of environmental research (atmospheric, marine, terrestrial or Earth sciences).

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
 
  The selection of the applications will be made based on Logistic/Feasibility, Scientific Merit and Educational Impact:
- Logistic/Feasibility: selected experiments will have to be feasible on a short time period. Studies of rare phenomena will be excluded in order to minimize constraints on the allocated time slots.
Selected experiments must be feasible on one of the aircraft of the fleet.
- Scientific merit refers to the scientific value, originality, practicality, network value and training benefit of the project.
- Educational Impact refers to the experience gained by the scientists actively participating in an airborne field experiment.




FINANCIAL SUPPORT OFFERED TO SELECTED PROJECTS:
 
  The access offered includes:
- 100% of the flight hours on the chosen aircraft (including fuel, aircraft insurance, airport and flight authorities fees, Travel&Subsistence expenses of the aircraft crew, scientific and engineering support for integration of instruments, etc),
- Travel&Subsistence expenses of the applicants group for the campaign and the preliminary/post campaign visits to the aircraft operator, following the rules detailed here.
